Introduction to the issue of poverty
Despite massive advances in the standards of living in the developed world, almost half of the world’s population, roughly 3 billion people, still live on less than $2.50 a day. Prima facie, it may appear that poverty is not that challenging to alleviate especially when the mass media provides us with gargantuan of statistics on the rising income of countries stricken by destitution. Many countries located in the Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa, the part of the continent that is located South of the Sahara Desert, is facing an endemic poverty problem.
What is poverty alleviation?
In this website, the issue discussed is on poverty alleviation. Poverty alleviation involves improving the living conditions of people who live under the absolute poverty line by providing aid in medical and scientific areas, which is essential in providing better lives. Other reduction measures includes enabling the poor to create wealth for themselves as a means to end poverty.
Introduction to the project
We would be examining how the government contribute in policies making and executing them in regards with the economy situation of the country would make poverty easier to be alleviated. However, would poverty always be easily alleviated? We believe that even when policies are implemented by the government, there can also be times when poverty cannot be easily alleviated especially when there are too many obstacles faced by the country which hinder economic growth.
